About the role:

As the Officer, Fitness Operations you will play a key role in delivering high-quality health, fitness, and recreation services across Deakin University’s fitness centres and sports facilities. You will be responsible for supporting the operations of a specified campus fitness centre and associated recreation facilities.

Working collaboratively with a range of internal and external customers, you will have a strong focus on optimised scheduling, organisation, customer experience and team collaboration, ensuring a professional and positive experience.

As the Officer, Fitness Operations you will:

  • Deliver effective and efficient services to customers by contributing to key fitness programs, enabling university-wide programs to thrive
  • Contribute to the general supervision of casual team members at the specified campus
  • Ensure a high-level of customer service to fitness centre members and university stakeholders, respond efficiently and effectively to queries, and adhere to all quality requirements
  • Coordinate and schedule recreation facility bookings from various university stakeholders, sport clubs, and community groups efficiently and effectively
  • Provide functional advice to fitness equipment users and deliver scheduled group fitness classes
  • Gather data on member insights, participate in reviews of practices to identify opportunities for improvement, and optimise operations

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of a Post-Trades Certificate or Advanced Certificate and extensive relevant experience as a Technician; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Certificate III & IV in Fitness or equivalent qualification
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience working in a leisure, recreation, or fitness centre environment
  • Experience delivering group training classes and individual fitness programs
