  • Level B $113,157 - $133,837 + 17% Superannuation (pro rata, part time)

The  School of Health and Social Development is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Health and Social Development.

 

About the role:

As an integral member of the Occupational Therapy teaching and research team, the role of the Lecturer, Occupational Therapy Clinical Educator, Education-focused Academic is to support students to integrate theory and practice and to develop their identity as an emerging occupational therapist within a professional practice context. This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.

 

As a Lecturer, Occupational Therapy, Education-focused, you will:

  • Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design
  • Act as clinical educator of students with direct responsibility for establishment of learning goals and the assessment of learning outcomes
  • Liaise with, and provide oversight and support for students, on site supervisors, particularly where there are issues with placement, or a critical incident occurs
  • Identify new placement opportunities which meet the learning needs of Deakin occupational therapy students
  • Adopt new innovation in curriculum design at the unit level including integrating industry, clinical and/or research practice to teaching

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
  • PhD or Masters in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • At least five years’ experience in occupational therapy practice including being a clinical educator
  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
