Why this role matters
This is an opportunity to be the friendly first point of contact for Deakin Residential Services and help create a welcoming, supportive residential community in Warrnambool. As Reception Officer, you will provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to current and prospective residents, families, university staff and contractors, while assisting with programs, events and day-to-day residential operations. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Deakin Residential Services Operations, you will play an important role in ensuring residents receive timely information, support and referrals, contributing to a positive student experience and vibrant residential community. This position is rostered for 7:00am to 3:00pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sundays.
As a Reception Officer you will:
- Be the first point of contact that matters - deliver welcoming, reliable reception and administrative support to residents, families, staff and contractors.
- Create outstanding customer experiences by responding quickly to enquiries, resolving issues and connecting people with the right services.
- Bring ideas to the table - embrace continuous improvement, adapt to change and help refine processes that make services more accessible and efficient.
- Thrive in a collaborative, inclusive team – communicate clearly, build strong relationships and support colleagues to deliver shared outcomes.
- Stay organised and proactive - manage daily tasks, track progress and balance priorities to keep operations running smoothly in a busy residential environment.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Completion of an Associate Diploma level qualifications with relevant work experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate relevant work experience; or
- Completion of a post-Trades Certificate or Advanced Certificate and extensive relevant and on the job training; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
