About the role:
The Senior Learning Designer will lead and contribute to a wide range of learning, analysis, design, training and administrative activities required by the University in support of the Australian Army Land Combat College (LCC). Bringing deep subject matter or relevant expertise, the role will collaborate closely with the LCC Deakin Project Lead, colleagues, and LCC personnel to analyse, design and develop Australian Army curricula and learning packages. This work will support Army to ensure that learning design and content development remain contemporary and aligned to Army operational priorities.

As a Senior Learning Designer, you will:

  • Coordinate team outputs to deliver high-quality learning design and development products
  • Focus on modernising curriculum content for the Australian Army, ensuring it is current, flexible for delivery, and underpinned by effective learning approaches that support Army objectives
  • Contribute to maintaining relevant, accessible, and future-focused learning solutions.
  • Continually evaluate progress and re-prioritise work based on changing needs and strive for excellence and effectively overcome barriers to achieve outcomes.
  • Use understanding of the customer context to tailor services and advice and ensure a high-quality outcome.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience and management expertise; or equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training
  • Extensive experience in military or comparable learning environments, supported by relevant education or training
  • Experience leading programs or functions
  • Strong analytical and strategic capability
  • Experience working within complex organisational structures and systems, ideally in higher education, government, or Defence
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders across sectors (including Defence, government, and education)

Other Requirements:

  • This position is open to Australian citizens only (due to need for security clearance)
  • This position requires a baseline security clearance.
  • This position requires the incumbent to hold a current Working with Children Check
  • This position may require the incumbent to travel from time-to-time in Victoria, domestic and/or international to attend conferences, events and to represent the university.
  • This position requires the incumbent to hold a current National Police Record Check.
