About the role:
The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Platform Developer role is responsible for supporting the development and enhancement of platform solutions that help achieve the organisation's strategic goals. This role focuses on contributing to the design, development, and implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions to ensure they meet the needs of students, staff, and other key university stakeholders.

With a strong emphasis on improving the student and prospective student experience, this role is centred around a customer-focused approach by integrating digital marketing capabilities across recruitment, engagement, and retention initiatives to create seamless and impactful solutions. The role also ensures that developments align with the broader strategic objectives of the division and the university, supporting data-driven innovation while maintaining long-term platform sustainability.

As a Platform Developer, you will:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or related Salesforce CRM platform solutions that meet Deakin’s organisational requirements, industry standards, and the needs of marketing and student recruitment stakeholders.
  • Support development activities, including coding, integration, and platform maintenance, to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of Marketing Cloud and related integrated platforms within Deakin’s CRM ecosystem across student communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with marketing, recruitment, and technology team members and stakeholders to define platform requirements and align development efforts with Deakin's student lifecycle and campaign objectives.
  • Follow established strategies, processes, and best practices to optimise platform performance, scalability, and security with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and the CRM ecosystem, in line with Deakin's data governance and privacy obligations.
  • Track progress on assigned tasks and report on project status, raising potential issues or delays to ensure timely delivery of campaigns, integrations, and platform enhancements.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with substantial subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in platform development in large hybrid IT environment.
  • Experience configuring and developing on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform, including journey builds, automation, and integrations.
  • Development experience in other Salesforce Clouds, particularly Sales Cloud or Education Cloud will be viewed favourably.
