Who are we?
The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Psychology.
About the role:
The Lecturer role is responsible for coordinating clinical placements within the Deakin School of Psychology’s Clinical Programs, ensuring trainees access high‑quality experiences aligned with program requirements. Working closely with Course Directors, the Lecturer contributes to teaching, service, and research activities, supports student preparation for placements, and may supervise postgraduate students as needed. The position also involves fostering partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities to strengthen the school’s clinical training offerings.
As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will:
- Lead and collaborate with unit teaching teams to design, review, and refine curricula, learning resources, assessments, and inclusive learning experiences that align with current industry, clinical, and research practices.
- Deliver innovative, learner‑centred, research‑informed teaching across modes, provide academic support to students, and contribute to building a culture of educational excellence and capability development among colleagues.
- Engage in discipline-based educational and pedagogical research, contributes to research projects, and completes required teaching qualifications such as the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching.
- Support or lead research and innovation activities including interdisciplinary collaborations, industry partnerships, and translation initiatives while building a growing national research reputation and supervising HDR and honours students.
- Contribute to university citizenship by supporting strategic priorities, community engagement initiatives, and local leadership activities that enhance the institution’s impact.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Hold a PhD (or equivalent qualifications/experience) with a strong record of innovative teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.
- Demonstrate an emerging research reputation through publications, exhibitions, and/or success in securing external research funding, with the ability to contribute research to broader communities.
- Shows capacity for leadership in research and administration, supported by excellent interpersonal skills and strong collaborative working relationships.
- Registered psychologist with AHPRA.
- Area of practice endorsement and approved supervisor status is desirable.
- Experience in clinical supervision, including working with provisional psychologists on placement is desirable.
