About the role:

This position is suited to an experienced and innovative educator with a strong record and passion for learning and teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing excellence in medical education. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in leading curriculum innovation, enhancing student outcomes, and contributing to collaborative educational initiatives within the discipline of medicine.

The Senior Lecturer, Education-focused will lead teaching within the Doctor of Medicine and/or related undergraduate and postgraduate programs, alongside broader contributions to program development and educational scholarship in their area of expertise. The appointee will make a senior-level contribution to the student learning experience and outcomes through leadership of unit and course teaching teams, implementation of evidence-informed teaching practices, and mentorship of academic staff. 

As a Senior Lecturer, Education-focused, you will:

• Lead unit and course teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the faculty to develop effective unit/courses curricula and learning materials (including through course leadership roles).
• Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements. Integrate industry, clinical and/or research practice into unit/course design to improve student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
• Lead the development and/or adoption of new innovation in curriculum design within a course and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery.
• Design collaborative learning opportunities at the course level. Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit and course material and practices.
• Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit and course level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Lead moderation of assessment tasks at course level and adapt practices to improve learning outcomes.

To be successful, you’ll have:

• PhD in a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area.
• Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
• Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
• Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision.
• Evidence of leadership in scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or post graduate programs, including innovative curriculum design and education development.
