As a Clinical Practice Educator:
- Deliver effective clinical teaching, simulation and feedback practices within units in the Doctor of Medicine program and suggest approaches to refine teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
- Facilitate and support clinical placements.
- Assist in developing effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level, in collaboration with the Unit Chair, Clinical Practice Theme Lead and Coordintor, Clinical Skills and Simulation Lead, and other senior academic staff within the School of Medicine. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Constructively contribute to moderation and remediation processes.
- Deliver Indigenous health professions education that integrates culturally safe practices, increases Indigenous representation, and ensures curricula reflect Indigenous health priorities and accreditation standards. Collaborate with Indigenous communities to support an inclusive and responsive health workforce.
- Engage with accreditation and Commonwealth reporting requirements.
- Support and assist with teaching scholarship and pedagogical research activity including publications.
- Under guidance or independently, develop scholarship of teaching and depth of knowledge in their discipline and/or contribution to discipline-based research.
To be successful, you’ll have:
Qualifications and experience
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience (for example, an undergraduate in a health discipline, for example, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy), and current registration with AHPRA.
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design.
- Emerging research and scholarship through publications, and/or exhibitions as appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to teach in Clinical Practice at the primary medical program level and a willingness to develop an understanding of the University’s principles in relation to teaching, learning and the student experience.
- Competence in developing and delivering Indigenous Health learning and assessment activities, in consultation with the School’s Indigenous Health Professional Education Team.
- Possess or capacity to undertake (post-appointment) Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
