About the Role
The Senior Officer, Current Candidature plays a key role in supporting current graduate research candidates and engaging with a range of university stakeholders across candidature policy, procedure, and process matters. With a focus on current candidature management, the role involves maintaining effective working relationships and collaborating closely with team members in ways that are respectful and inclusive. The position requires strong communication skills to build understanding and support through confident, tailored engagement. A proactive approach to continuous improvement is essential, with involvement in identifying gaps and refining processes to enhance the quality of candidature support services.
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Current Candidature, you will:
- Provide advice to staff and candidates on policy interpretation, procedures, and administrative processes of graduate research.
- Coordinate candidature activities and resolve problems with minimal assistance.
- Maintain systems and records, prepare statistical reports and correspondence, and undertake general administrative tasks.
- Monitor and update relevant material such as website and Hub content, guides, information manuals, and work instructions, including identification of gaps and potential improvements, as well as development of content as required.
- Engage in process improvement activities and adopt new ideas to improve candidature management support processes and practice.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields;
- or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience in a graduate research or student services environment.
- Knowledge of the legislation, policies, and sectoral issues relating to research and research training in a tertiary environment.
- Experience in dealing with confidential materials and sensitive matters.
