About the role:
The Senior Specialist, Architectural Design will take a hands-on and proactive approach to identify and deliver Deakin’s strategic goals by ensuring the architectural design process within space design and planning projects meets functional, aesthetic and sustainability goals. This position will use their architectural expertise, technical skills and strong engagement skills to collaborate with key stakeholders to develop high-quality solutions while adhering to industry standards and university requirements.
This role is focused on enhancing the customer experience through a customer-centric approach by integrating physical and digital infrastructure, projects, and services to deliver seamless, impactful solutions tailored to customer needs. The role ensures that improvements align with the division's and university's strategic goals, balancing innovation with long-term objectives, ensuring successful stakeholder engagement and alignment to the design and solution.
As a Senior Specialist, you will:
- Lead the architectural design process for university workspace projects, ensuring that the design meets project requirements and complies with regulations and standards
- Oversee the creation of design drawings, models and presentations for key stakeholders, ensuring design integrity and clarity
- Work closely with the Space Design and Planning team, key stakeholders and other specialists to integrate architectural design with structural, mechanical and electrical systems
- Ensure that architectural designs align with project goals, budget, timeline and technical specifications
- Use understanding of the client context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offering and ensure a high-quality outcome by addressing client feedback and setting service standards
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience in architectural design, with a strong portfolio of completed projects demonstrating creativity and technical expertise
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and a strong understanding of the entire project lifecycle, from concept through construction/delivery, including coordination with various disciplines
