We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Psychology

About the role:

This position is responsible for coordinating placements in the Deakin School of Psychology Clinical Programs. In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Programs and Partnerships and the course leadership group for professional psychology programs, the focus of this role is to ensure trainees obtain high quality placements. This role will also contribute to teaching, service and research in the professional psychology programs.

The incumbent may be required to provide supervision to postgraduate professional students on placement and will coordinate teaching and learning activities to support students to achieve success on placement. This position is 1.0 FTE however fractional appointment may be negotiated. This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.

As a Lecturer, Clinical Placement, Education-focused you will:

  • Work with the Director of Clinical Programs and Partnerships and Course Directors to develop and maintain relationships with agencies for the purpose of securing and providing high quality professional placement opportunities for Postgraduate Professional Psychology students.
  • Participate in developing and nurturing links and partnerships with industry, professional bodies and the wider community.
  • Develop and administer professional development programs for field supervisors to facilitate the growth of the number of placement supervisors meeting the criteria for Registered Supervisor endorsed status as required by the Psychology Board of Australia 
  • Teach in professional psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and contribute to the review of units and courses.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Registered psychologist (APHRA).
  • Record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating and supporting student placements *Desirable.
  • Area of practice endorsement (Clinical) *Desirable.
  • Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor status * Desirable.
