About the role:
The appointee will be responsible for cultivating existing and establishing new clinical placement sites for students, conducting clinical visits, engaging in research, and publishing work related to Medical Imaging. They will also promote the school and maintain strong connections and partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities.
The appointee must be a proactive, enthusiastic, and a committed medical imaging professional, proficient in the core areas of medical imaging practice and clinical education.
The role includes supporting students during clinical placements, collaborating with clinical partners, and contributing to various aspects of the Medical Imaging program. The appointee may be required to conduct practical sessions in the medical imaging simulation laboratory., facilitate problem based learning, lecture and chair units. The appointee will work to ensure an outstanding student experience, promote safe practices, and advocate for the discipline within the School of Medicine, as well as at the faculty and university levels.
A key responsibility of this position is conducting clinical visits to strengthen current clinical site partnerships and fostering new collaborations to secure placement opportunities for Medical Imaging students. The appointee will also be accountable for building clinical partnerships and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the profile of the medical imaging program within the School, Faculty of Health, and the wider medical and general community.
As a Lecturer in Medical Imaging and Clinical Practice (Clinical Lead), you will:
- Developing and nurturing clinical partnerships and collaborations with other stakeholders to advance the profile of the Medical Imaging program within the School, Faculty of Health, the medical and general community.
- Developing safe learning environments that focus on the student's wellbeing and maintaining communication with students via clinical partnership visits, both in-person and via teleconference.
- Contributing to the teaching excellence within the Deakin medical imaging program.
- Undertaking appropriate administrative tasks including Unit Chair responsibilities
- Assist in applying industry, clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
- Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design.

To be successful, you’ll have:
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Experience of delivering teaching and learning in a clinical and/or higher education setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
- Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching, research and/or administration in a clinical setting
- Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
- Ability to contribute to communities through research.
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of research and administration.
- Recent clinical practice experience (desirable).
