The Job:

The Senior Manager, Information Strategy is a pivotal part of Deakin’s ambitious vision for data and analytics. The role will lead a new team and work within the newly established Data Platforms team to build a strategic vision and deliver impactful results aligned Deakin’s broader objectives. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen to shape and implement data strategies that drive long-term value. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement information strategy: Lead the creation of a strategic approach to managing and using information across the organisation to drive business outcomes.
  • Establish information management practice: Establish and nurture a robust data and information management practice to enhance the organisation’s analytics capability.
  • Lead cross-functional teams: Coordinate with various business units to ensure seamless integration of data-driven solutions across the organisation.
  • Foster a data-driven culture: Promote the importance of data across all levels of the business, ensuring that decision-making is backed by solid insights.
  • Oversee governance and compliance: Align information strategy with the data governance team and frameworks to maintain quality, privacy, and compliance with regulations.
  • Engage with key stakeholders: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders to align data initiatives with business priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Promote innovation and continuous learning within the data function, keeping the business ahead of trends in analytics and technology.

                                                                                                                                                                           

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience in shaping how a large complex organisation manages its information systems to support digital transformation, innovation, and strategic decision-making
  • Knowledge of and technical expertise in aligning and implementing digital information strategy
  • Experience managing projects, people and budgeting
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and aligning information/data strategy to drive business goals
  • A deep understanding of regulatory requirements and information management best practices in a large complex organisation
  • A flexible and adaptable approach. Respond quickly to changing business priorities and emerging technologies, adjusting data strategies to support evolving needs and challenges
