About the role

The Group Manager, Product Management ensures effective partnerships with Deakin’s leaders to drive the strategy and execution of digital products, leveraging data, collaboration and a user-centred approach to deliver successful outcomes for the University. The Group Manager will provide leadership and direction for digital product ownership and management from conception through delivery, with a focus on creating high quality user-centric solutions. The group Manager will work closely with other Engagement team members, senior leaders and key stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient use of digital products across the University.

The role reports to the Associate Director, Vendor Management and provides critical advice to senior leaders dealing with matters or issues with broader university implications. This role will lead a highly specialised team of professionals.

As the Group Manager, Product Management, you will:

  • Build and inspire university leaders to develop and implement digital product strategies that align with the university’s overall goals and ensure alignment with university strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to define business needs, project objectives, scope, and deliverables, ensuring digital product initiatives meet the needs of business areas.
  • Understand product trends and analyse product performance metrics (eg. user engagement, customer satisfaction) to guide product evolutions, and integrate this knowledge into business strategies focused on value, revenue, quality, people, efficiency and investment.
  • Acts as a key bridge between University Services and leaders, ensuring digital solutions and infrastructure projects are aligned with the university’s mission and goals.                                               

 

To be successful, you’ll have

  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with appointment at level.
  • Extensive experience in product management, project management or a related role, working in a complex IT development environment.
  • Proven experience aligning customer needs and business goals with the successful development and delivery of digital products.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong and productive relationships with internal and external partners and customers.
