About the role

We are seeking an emerging researcher with knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities and experience with or researching collections and museum collection databases to contribute to an international research project. The successful candidate will be involved in the project titled The Great Exhibitions and their lost Indigenous Objects. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

As an Associate Research Fellow, you will:

  • Conduct high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs, with mentorship
  • Engage collaboratively to support data management and assist the team to achieve its objectives
  • Help prepare and communicate outputs to communities and other audiences
  • Ensure impact of academic activity on the field and the community
  • Participate in intra- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline such as history, anthropology, museum studies, indigenous studies and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Emerging research and scholarship through publications, and/or exhibitions as appropriate to the discipline
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities and communication through research
  • Demonstrated capacity of project management including administration of budgets and travel

Special Requirements

  • This position may require the incumbent to travel domestically and/or internationally to attend conferences, events and to represent the university.
