The Outbound Deakin Abroad Officer will support students seeking to participate in learning abroad programs, and students participating in the Global Citizenship Program. This role also involves overseeing the Global Ambassadors on campus and other student engagement initiatives.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Manager, Deakin Global Learning and the Deakin Abroad team to ensure smooth operation, development, and promotion of all learning abroad programs and funding relating to student mobility.

 

As an Officer in our Outbound Deakin Abroad team, you will:

  • Undertake administrative tasks and services relating to Learning Abroad programs, Global Citizenship program and mobility funding including New Colombo Plan
  • Plan and deliver student-facing engagement initiatives that promote global learning opportunities, including providing guidance, event delivery, and fostering student involvement
  • Manage customer inquiries (face to-face, telephone, and email) and ensure that professional and timely services to students are always being delivered. This includes investigating, resolving, and responding to a diverse range of inquiries in relation to Learning Abroad Programs
  • Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique and assist with the briefing of academic staff and Faculty student support staff in relation to Learning Abroad activities
  • Provide administrative support and support to faculty staff as needed in relation to Faculty Led Programs and Learning Abroad Application management database
  • Coordinate key events promotion and preparation for Learning Abroad programs
  • Provide support and services on a range of Learning Abroad related daily activities such as creation of online content, updating work instructions, updating Learning Abroad database information etc.
  • Develop and implement practical, accessible solutions based on stakeholder needs and liaise with colleagues across Deakin to facilitate the efficient processing of scholarships, grants, travel insurance, overseas student health cover and provide reports where required
  • Plan and prioritises work and critical activities appropriately to ensure the timely processing of Learning Abroad applications allocated to Outbound Officer, and ensure compliance with approved admission and selection standards and recognises barriers to achieving outcomes, finds practical ways to deal with them and evaluate progress
  • Implement strategies to promote positive emotional wellbeing across the team and regularly reflect on own behaviour

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience maintaining a duty of care towards students
  • Experience in an outbound environment with an attitude to convert enquiries to confirmed positions (application and enrolment); and experience in both sales and customer service provision, including high-level interpersonal skills, the ability to master content knowledge across a broad range of course and policy areas, and the ability to respond to people confidently, positively, and with respect while maintaining confidentiality where required
