As a Web Content Writer, you will:
- Plan and write content articles for Deakin’s research website, content hub, and other owned channels, ensuring stories are accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand and publishing standards.
- Generate creative ideas by contributing to monthly content brainstorms and presenting fresh, audience-focused approaches to showcasing research impact.
- Support the Web Content Editor with sprint planning, prioritisation of tasks, and stakeholder management to ensure smooth delivery of content initiatives.
- Continuously optimise the website and content hub using insights from Adobe Analytics, SEO tools, and stakeholder feedback to improve discoverability, usability, and conversion outcomes.
- Apply best-practice SEO across all content, maintaining an understanding of evolving trends in digital publishing, analytics, and content marketing.
- Maintain a high standard of editing and proofreading across articles, landing pages, campaign copy, and other written assets.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with academics, researchers, and professional staff to surface research achievements and translate complex information into accessible, compelling narratives.
- Support copywriting and editorial/article needs for campaigns, advertising, podcasts, scripts, and other written formats as required.
- Support in developing social extensions of content (e.g. short form, copy, posts, reels or tiles) that amplify reach and engagement across Deakin's social platforms.
- Proactively recommend improvements to content strategy and processes to enhance the quality and reach of Deakin’s research storytelling.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Strong writing experience for websites and digital platforms.
- Strong copywriting skills for advertising and campaign materials.
- Experience with article production for content hubs or equivalent.
- Working knowledge and experience of search engine optimisation (SEO).
- Attention to detail and proofreading.
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands.
- Scriptwriting experience for video or audio content.
- Experience writing for podcasts or similar spoken-word formats.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Squiz Matrix).
- Understanding of user experience and responsive design principles.
