Why this role matters:

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future direction of Deakin. As Senior Manager, Market Insights, you will bring together strategic thinking, innovation and evidence-based decision-making to help the University anticipate change, respond to emerging opportunities and deliver on its long-term ambitions.

Working at the intersection of strategy, customer understanding, course innovation and market dynamics, you will provide domestic and international insights that enable leaders to make confident decisions in an increasingly complex and competitive environment. Your work will influence how Deakin identifies opportunities for growth, develops and evolves its course portfolio, enhances its value proposition and remains relevant to the evolving needs of students, industry and the broader community.

Beyond delivering insight, you will foster a culture of curiosity, innovation and continuous improvement, empowering your team to challenge assumptions, explore new possibilities and uncover opportunities that drive meaningful outcomes.  Through your leadership, market intelligence will become a driver of course innovation and strategic decision-making, helping Deakin anticipate change, unlock opportunities and shape its future with confidence.

As a Senior Manager, Market Insights you will:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team responsible for domestic and international market insights and course innovation, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic advice that informs course portfolio decisions, organisational priorities and future growth.
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities, helping Deakin stay ahead in a dynamic and competitive environment.
  • Transform complex market, customer and demand information into actionable insights that drive growth, course innovation and organisational impact.
  • Champion an insight-led approach to strategy and course innovation, enabling Deakin to make confident decisions and respond to the evolving needs of students, industry and the broader community.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in market insights, research, analytics or a related discipline, with the ability to translate complex information into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a track record of partnering with senior leaders to drive organisational outcomes.
  • Experience working within a complex organisation, ideally in the higher education sector, and an understanding of the domestic and international opportunities and challenges shaping the future of education.
  • A strategic and forward-thinking mindset, with a passion for identifying market opportunities, driving course innovation and delivering meaningful impact.
