Lecturer in Occupational Therapy

 

We are exclusively inviting current and former sessional academic individuals who have made valuable contributions to the academic community at Deakin University to apply.

 

  • Based at our Warrnambool Campus + hybrid work arrangements​  
  • Part-time (0.6FTE) and continuing; approx. commencement date of January 2027
  • ​​Level B $122,391 - $144,759 + 17% Superannuation

The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Health and Social Development.

 

About the role:

The Lecturer, Occupational Therapy contributes to teaching, research and service within the discipline of occupational therapy. The role delivers teaching, develops curriculum, undertakes research and contributes to academic administration. Operating with increasing independence, the role integrates teaching, research and engagement to support student outcomes and scholarly contribution aligned to University priorities.

 

As a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, you will:

  • Design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences, including the development of curriculum, learning materials and assessments aligned with occupational therapy standards
  • Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback to support learning outcomes and student success
  • Continuously improve teaching practice through reflection, student feedback, and innovative approaches to learning and teaching
  • Undertake independent research and contribute to scholarly outputs, including publications and collaborative research projects
  • Engage with industry, community and professional stakeholders to support teaching, research and the broader discipline
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues related to First Nations Peoples

 

To be successful as a Lecturer, you’ll have: 

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • At least three years’ experience in occupational therapy practice
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver teaching and contribute to curriculum development
  • Emerging track record of research or scholarly outputs
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues related to First Nations Peoples
