About the role:
The Assistant plays a key role in supporting a welcoming, vibrant, and functional environment for Deakin staff and guests. This position is responsible for maintaining shared spaces and meeting areas, delivering high-quality customer and hospitality services, and providing logistical support to ensure smooth daily operations.
As an Assistant, Venues and Logistics you will:
- Maintain Shared Facilities: Ensure kitchen and shared areas are clean, stocked, and welcoming by managing consumables and performing regular upkeep and basic equipment maintenance.
- Provide Logistics Support: Assist with mail handling, goods receipt and distribution, packing, warehousing, and material handling tasks while following safe manual handling practices.
- Deliver Exceptional Service: Uphold high standards of customer service, engage in continuous improvement, and contribute positively to team goals and service delivery.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance: Follow all health, wellbeing, and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Build Positive Relationships: Collaborate effectively with staff, suppliers, contractors, and visitors to support a connected and inclusive workplace culture.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Completion of a Trades Certificate or completion of year 12 with relevant work experience; or
- Equivalent relevant experience or combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Experience in providing customer service and support to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in an environment which dictates high standards of protocol, attention to detail and professionalism.
