About the role
As trusted advisors and collaborative partners, the Finance and Assurance function provides a range of services to all parts of the university to drive financial sustainability and provide expert advice and compliance assurance to support delivery of the University Strategy and operational activities.
Our Finance function is responsible for leading the financial planning and end-to-end finance management, analysis and insight to promote financially sustainable operations including responsible and strategic procurement practices.
The Senior Manager, Procurement Strategy & Governance provides visible leadership of a team of professional roles and is responsible for the achievement of results for the team’s services and activities of the development and implementation of procurement strategies and governance frameworks. The role manages the integration of activities within a function and collaborates across multiple practices and processes to achieve the engagement of a network of stakeholders with different contributions. The role is actively involved in and concerned with the influencing of others to achieve outcomes in alignment with university strategies and goals and drives changes which improve operational policies, practices and methods.
The role reports to Executive Director, Procurement & Operations and leads a team of two direct reports and provides sound advice and recommendations to senior leaders on the professional practice and discipline in procurement activities that align with the University’s goals.
As Senior Manager, Procurement Strategy & Governance, you will:
- Assist the Senior Director, Procurement, with the development and implementation of procurement strategies that align with the university’s goals and objectives.
- Conduct market research including benchmarking, analyse trends, and identify opportunities to enhance procurement effectiveness and cost savings.
- Establish and maintain procurement governance frameworks and policies. Ensure compliance with university policies, legal regulations, and industry standards. Monitor and address any compliance issues or risks.
- Oversee the creation, review, and update of procurement policies and procedures. Ensure policies reflect current regulations and best practices and promote adherence across the university.
- Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and ensure alignment with procurement strategies. Provide guidance and support on procurement-related matters.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Proven expertise in the management of significant human and material resources.
- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant procurement experience.
- Strong understanding of procurement strategies, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing procurement strategies and policies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
