Overview of the Barwon Health – Deakin University Clinical Trials Alliance
The Deakin University Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creating and social development and fostering cutting-edge research and discovery. The Faculty places high emphasis on research that makes a difference and is solution-led. We work closely with industry and healthcare partners and government to put findings into practice.
The Barwon Health – Deakin University Clinical Trials Alliance (‘the Alliance’) will commence operations in 2026 and is a key pillar of both Deakin’s Health and Community Trials Network and Barwon Health’s Research Strategic Plan. The Alliance will be a transformational partnership, establishing a nationally leading model for integrated clinical trials, research, and healthcare delivery.
Leveraging the unique strengths of both institutions to enhance health outcomes, equity, and access to clinical trials across the Barwon South-West region, the Alliance is investing in workforce development and capability building to support the delivery of impactful clinical trials across the region. It will combine establishment of the Deakin Trials Hub with Barwon Health’s established clinical trials capability and a shared vision to improve community outcomes through better access to cutting-edge therapies and evidence-based, person-centred care.
