Overview of the position:
The Senior UX Designer is a responsible for providing innovation and expertise in user-centred design for the University across strategic projects and tactical enhancement activities. Enhances existing products in UX design and research and guides new and emergent technologies to support the experience design strategy. Uses best practice user-centred design methodologies to deliver visually appealing designs, through user research, creation of informational artifacts and workshops.
As a Senior UX Designer, you will:
- Continually research, test markets and troubleshoot existing and future end-user experience and design, and apply these practices to the university’s digital channels and experiences.
- Deliver a range of usable digital, mobile and hybrid products, applications and solutions – personalised, accessible, interactive, multi-channel, location- and context-aware, etc. as applicable – that meet end user and university needs.
- Analyse problems, weigh up a range of options to identify accessible and inclusive solutions and translate complex issues into clear and understandable goals and targets for Deakin.
- Actively promote and drive inclusive change using broad influencing skills to gain support and overcome barriers and gain stakeholder support and generate enthusiasm about change.
- Use understanding of the client context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offering and ensure a high-quality outcome by addressing client feedback and setting service standards.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience as a UX designer in a commercial or educational design and/or development environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage delivery of UX activities.
- Proficiency in the use of design software such as Figma, Optimal Workshop or other UX related tools.
- Experience designing for accessibility and adhering to WCAG 2.1 AA.
