As a Senior Technical Officer, Biology, you will:

  • Manage Laboratories: Oversee daily operations of biological labs and teaching spaces, including workflow organization and practical class support.
  • Engage in Teaching and Research: Collaborate with academic staff to provide specialist knowledge, trial processes, and train on equipment relevant to biology and physiology.
  • Maintain Equipment: Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained to high safety standards, perform minor repairs, and coordinate with engineers for calibration and maintenance.
  • Manage Supplies: Ensure sufficient levels of laboratory stocks and materials for teaching and research, adhering to purchasing policies.
  • Coordinate Resources: Oversee resource allocation and timetabling in labs or field stations, liaising with students, staff, and researchers.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce University safety and risk management policies, including maintaining chemical inventories and conducting risk assessments.
          

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree in Biology/Science (or related field) with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge (including dissection skills) or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields or, an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders clients and/or students.
  • Experience in Physiology and Anatomy is highly desirable.
