As a Clinical Trial Manager, you will:
- Lead a Victorian based pilot trial in child mental health (CALM-Kids)
- Oversee a project team of 5+ staff and students from multidisciplinary backgrounds
- Manage lab
- Liaise with participants seeking help for mental health concerns and a wide range of key stakeholder groups
- Independently lead strategic and day to day training around working with child participants with mental illness and their carers.
- Other research-related administration including budget management, completing progress reports, providing advice on governance and a final report to the MRFF, and chairing regular Steering Committees meetings and preparing associated documents
- Supervise honours and/or HDR students with timely completions and productive, high-quality outcomes and provide effective mentoring to HDR students to support professional and career development and employability.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Post graduate qualification in Psychology, Biomedical Science, Nursing, or other relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- At least 5 years’ experience managing or coordinating clinical trials, especially in those with mental illness or vulnerable populations, with demonstrated expertise and/or preference for trials involving children and/or adolescents
- Current registration as a mental health clinician (desirable)
- Substantial subsequent relevant experience in clinical trials, specifically behavioural trials ideally with child and youth populations experiencing mental ill-health.
- Advanced knowledge of clinical trial governance, clinical research processes, regulations and methodology
- Experience in conducting escalation of care duties with people with mental ill-health (crisis response, working with emergency services and / or mental health clinicians, triaging to tertiary or emergency services where appropriate), particularly in youth populations.
- Sophisticated understanding of underlying theoretical behavioural change frameworks
- Advanced knowledge of the nuances of working with vulnerable populations, specifically a clinical understanding of mental illness and developmental considerations in children.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a research or laboratory group, including administrative and operational oversight, fostering research innovation, mentoring team members, and contributing to the development of the group’s national and/or international profile and reputation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue research translation, implementation, and policy impact opportunities, including engagement with stakeholders, partners, and decision-makers to support real-world application and system-level change.
