About the role:

The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creating and social development and fostering cutting-edge research and discovery. The Food & Mood Centre places high emphasis on research that makes a difference and is solution-led. We work closely with industry partners and the government to put findings into practice.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Associate Research Fellow to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will contribute to high-impact research, scholarship, and creative activities, supported by mentorship from leaders. You will help explore and build emerging research areas and foster the development of researchers, driving real-world impact.

The position requires Biostatistics/Methods Stream and Microbiome/Multi-omics/Data Science Stream knowledge as detailed in the attached position description. A job share arrangement may be considered.

As an Associate Research Fellow, you will:

  • Engage in high-quality, collaborative research and creative activities with mentorship, aiming to produce outputs that contribute meaningfully to the field and community.
  • Begin building a body of work and reputation and recognition for quality, excellence and impact.
  • Build awareness of industry partners and participate in opportunities for research partnerships 
  • Adopt culture of research excellence, innovation and impact      

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, epidemiology, or other relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Strong manuscript writing skills and evidence of contribution to peer-reviewed publications
  • Proficiency in R, Python or other relevant statistical/computational platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
