As a Senior Consultant (Workplace), you will provide a wide range of employment law and workplace relations advice, consultancy, and project management. Your in-depth understanding of the legislative landscape, tailored to the university context, will enable you to deliver comprehensive solutions for our stakeholders.

You will contribute across broader People and Culture activities, collaborating closely with subject matter experts and people leaders. You'll build specialist knowledge, take end-to-end responsibility for case management and advice on people matters, and lead project activities. This role is key to our commitment to continuous improvement and best practice, enhancing our team’s service delivery.

In a typical week, you will:

  • Lead case management activity for Workplace Relations, advising and coaching People Leaders on approach.
  • Manage performance and conduct employee cases up to and including conciliation.
  • Lead on workplace relations project activity across the People Solutions team, connecting key stakeholders and providing expert. 
  • Actively engage with key stakeholders to collaborate, provide accessible solutions and achieve balanced, timely and professional advice.
  • Promote ideas and review practices and policies and translate into workplace improvements.
  • Understanding the University context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offerings and ensure high-quality outcomes by addressing customer feedback and setting service standards.                                                                                                                                    

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience and management expertise.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Work Act and relevant employment legislation and the application in practice.
  • Experience managing complex cases in workplace relations and providing practical solutions.  
  • Proven experience in providing tailored HR advice.
