The CREDIT (The Centre of Research Excellence for the Development of Innovative Therapies for Psychiatric Disorders) is a NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence. The program aims to bring together leading researchers to facilitate and foster cutting edge novel therapy development to improve outcomes for people experiencing a mental illness.
As a Research Fellow - Trisno Family, you will explore potential novel therapies for psychiatric disorders and contribute to the research output of CREDIT. The proposed research program involves the use of multifaceted and novel methods to explore potential new adjunctive therapies.
Based at Barwon Health Geelong City. This exciting role sits within the School of Medicine and is a full time 2-year fixed-term contract.
Your key responsibilities will include and not limited to:
- Initiate and conduct research to achieve the objectives of CREDIT.
- Prepare and develop grant applications relating to the project(s), and contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies.
- Effectively generate data, maintain data protocols and enter data into the appropriate databases. Conduct data cleaning, screening and analysis
- Translate data into research publications, presentations, media, community and clinical forums.
- Co-supervise or where appropriate, supervise, honours or postgraduate research students ensuring successful completions with quality results.
- Constructively contribute to a vibrant research team by supervising junior colleagues.
- Promote the activities of the University, particularly those relating to research and research training, within academic and professional communities in Australia and internationally.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A postgraduate degree in psychology, neuroscience or other related disciplines with a substantial research component.
- A research program that aligns with the novel therapies pillar of IMPACT TRIALS and the goals of CREDIT.
- A competitive track record in the field of novel interventions in psychiatry.
- Post-doctoral research experience that has resulted in publications, conference papers, reports, or professional or technical contributions, which give evidence of research ability.
- An understanding of GCP and NHMRC research guidelines for clinical trials.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with (and or negotiate with) research clients, stakeholders, and industry.
- Demonstrated understanding of the underlying biology of affective disorders.
- Experience in working across statistical packages (e.g. STATA, R, Minitab, SPSS) would be highly desirable.
