Who are we?

The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences.

About the role:

The Lecturer in Food and Nutrition Sciences will teach in food product development, manufacturing, and science, while leading unit teams and driving impactful research with industry and government partners as part of the CASS Food Research Centre.

As a Lecturer in Food and Nutrition Sciences, you will:

  • Lead unit teaching teams across our undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition programs in the areas of food product development, food manufacturing and/or food science and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the courses to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles). Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement
    refinements.
  • Assist in applying food industry and food science research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
  • Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed
    teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery
  • Develop a program of food product development research within the CASS Food Research Centre, including supporting applications for external competitive funding and collaborating with CASS staff and existing CASS industry partners.
  • Build a national reputation, based on a growing, focused body of work recognised for quality, excellence and impact and a growing track record of timely delivery of outcomes for food industry partners.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in food science (or relevant discipline) and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate food science, including innovative curriculum design.
  • Emerging reputation in food product development research and/or scholarship through publications and
    success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Food industry experience in product development.
  • Ability to contribute to communities through food science research.
