About the role

In this pivotal role, you’ll bring expertise in property infrastructure and a strong understanding of the complexities of higher education environments. As a recognised specialist, you will guide, influence and collaborate across the University to ensure our physical environment supports Deakin’s academic, administrative and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations and Infrastructure, you will provide strategic, expert advice and lead a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional services and innovative solutions.

As the Associate Director, Property Infrastructure, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead, mentor and inspire a high-performing team of skilled professionals - fostering collaboration, capability growth and excellence in service delivery.
  • Develop and drive strategic initiatives that align with Deakin’s future needs, ensuring our property infrastructure meets the functional and experiential expectations of our students, staff and partners.
  • Act as a trusted Subject Matter Expert, advising on property infrastructure projects and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure outcomes deliver genuine value.
  • Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and elevate user experience across the University.
  • Oversee campus maintenance and engineering services, ensuring accuracy, integrity, compliance and a data-informed approach to decision-making and reporting.

                                                                                                                                       

About you

You will be a proactive, strategic leader with:

  • Extensive experience in property infrastructure, engineering services or facilities management.
  • A track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering complex, organisation-wide initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted relationships at senior levels.
  • The confidence to challenge ideas constructively and navigate differing viewpoints to achieve the best outcomes.
  • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement and delivering exceptional service to a diverse community.
