Embedded within our Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, the School of Life and Environmental Sciences offers a comprehensive range of disciplines and specialised courses focused on environmental conservation and sustainability, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and hands-on learning experiences. Spread across three campuses, a research station and field office, the School is deeply engaged in impactful research and collaborates with government departments, industry, and international scientists on projects that address national environmental priorities. Through strong industry collaborations and award-winning teaching staff, we ensure that our graduates are equipped with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed to excel in their careers.

The new Head of School will provide the vision and leadership to reinforce the distinctive, applied identity of the School and will be motivated by a desire to drive excellence in research and education. With delegated powers for resource management, candidates will demonstrate the intellectual, strategic and operational leadership qualities to engage colleagues and industry partners in shaping and delivering a long-term strategy that will enhance the School’s international reputation and network of relationships. The Head of School role may be based at any of the campuses on which the school operates (Melbourne - Burwood, Geelong - Waurn Ponds, Warrnambool).
